Why a pilot? We are trying the Community Q&A format to see whether it supports useful, respectful public understanding without creating an unmanageable discussion board. It is not a live forum: submissions stay private unless the campaign team publishes an edited question with an answer. We may pause, change, or end the pilot.

Your name and email are private. They help us discourage abuse and, if necessary, clarify your question. They are never included in the public Q&A.
Participation policy
A short policy for a useful, safe exchange
- Stay on topic and act in good faith. Questions should relate to Chatham Light, navigation, preservation, public process, or this campaign’s work.
- Be civil. We will not publish harassment, insults, discriminatory content, threats, or material that targets a private individual.
- Protect privacy and accuracy. Do not include private contact details, private street addresses, or unsupported allegations about a person or organization.
- Expect curation. We may lightly edit for length, clarity, privacy, or tone; combine substantially similar questions; add factual context; or decline a submission. We will preserve the substance of viewpoints we publish.
- Allow time. This is not monitored continuously. Submission does not guarantee publication, a personal response, or a particular response time.
Supportive, neutral, skeptical, and critical questions are all eligible under the same standards. Published answers reflect the campaign’s current understanding and may be corrected or updated as information changes.
